This CAN NOT be happening. I read the following on Salon.com this afternoon:
May 23, 2005 | Atlanta — More than 2,000 workers at plants in California and Connecticut that bottle Coca-Cola products went on strike Monday, just before the start of the summer season that is so important to the soft drink industry.
Chris Roos, the leader of Teamsters Local 1035 in East Hartford, Conn., said the strike was planned the week before Memorial Day to pressure the company to negotiate or jeopardize summer sales.
"Within a day or two, you probably won’t see too much Coke on the shelves," he said.
If I have to go even one day without a Diet Coke, I will so pull a Jimmy Hoffa on those Teamsters.
Lucky me, I am in France right now where I may not be affected. I do not know how I would do without coke or C2 myself….
Trixie…wake up…wake up. Its all just a bad nightmare.Seriously, are those the only 2 plants? There have to be more, probably more on the west coast.
I’ve got a number of "relatives" in CT, still. Fuggedda ’bout any supply problems. I’ll call some Friends of Ours 😉
I’d say you only have to start worrying when the people at Prozac start to strike. 😉 who loves ya?
Miss TriXie, which building are you in Millenium? I will make a special trip to the Eastside to bringing you a couple of cases of Diet Coke. I heard the local Costcos are already sold out but I have a stash. That should help you survive this crisis. Keep up the funny blogging.
Not to worry if it’s only two bottlers. By the sounds of the ariticle, it appears those are the Coca Cola company owned bottlers. There is a whole network of Coca Cola bottlers that is separate from the Coca Cola Company (I think it’s Coca Cola Enterprises).I experienced a strike of about two weeks in Philadelphia where it became quite hard to find Coke products on the shelves. And how come you don’t stock up on the product when it’s on sale? I usually have 3 weeks supply on hand
neda, just saw the comment. You have the good coca-cola outside the states…the one made with REAL SUGAR!I brought back a few cases of it from Hong Kong and then had my wife’s cousin bring me some more when he visited. Can’t beat the real sugar, corn syrup sucks and Coca Cola Classic isn’t original formula without the sugar.
Abomb, you are THE bomb! Are you a microsoftie?Boba, of course I don’t stock up. That would be the sensible thing to do. Like paying my taxes. 😦 Besides, the more I buy, the more I drink.
