Maybe not quite yet, but let Mike Judge show you how it could easily happen. On Friday I was fortunate to be able to screen Mike Judge’s new movie, "Idiocracy". The premise, in a nutshell, is that idiots breed at an alarming rate; (K-Fed’s got 4 little Feds already) while the smarties hem and haw and rationalize until their ovaries shrivel up. In the year 2505 the world has been overrun by morons.
Rumor has it that Fox has put the kibosh on this FUNNY AS HELL film for fear of its scathing criticism of corporations: particularly Fuddrucker’s, Costco and Starbucks. I look forward to the day when ‘bucks offers a full-body "latte".
Anyway, this is gonna be a hard movie for most of you to find. But if at all possible; SEE IT. Or at least read this review.
Sounds pretty good, TriXie. Knowing Austin it will probably show up at the Alamo Draft house and I’ll check it out.
I wonder if I’ll be able to find this up here…hm…
The movie I am most waiting to see is "Thank You for Smoking" which is hitting DVD early October…Same thing–great reviews, great concept, wasn’t in theatres more than 2 weeks. ARGH.
Here is a great comparison:
Invincible–The same story we have seen at least 5 times before (Average Joe gets to play _____ sport professionally and opened on almost 3,000 screens:

Idiocracy–Something new and ‘off the wall’ opens on 130. I did NOT forget a number there.

Yeah I might have to check it out, odds are it’ll make it to some theater in DC. I sure know I’m an idiot.
Mike Judge is a a very smart and funny creative talent. All of a sudden I must se this movie.
Good job on this weeks Spotlight. Poignant based on the timing, but not pointed out to be so ("Since today is 9/11…." is WAY overused in the media). Maybe focusing on ‘heroes’ on 9/11 wasn’t direct and I’m reading to much into it, but either way: good job.
Was someone’s space bar broken though? "Toa" "FedExdecided" don’t appear in my dictionary. 🙂
Alright, you’re freakin me out now. First the phone call today before the email, and now this!I saw this a week or two back! I didn’t know after Fox killed its marketing that anyone else even knew it existed! lolDamn Fox wouldn’t even print posters to ship to the theatres for it. :(Either way, me and 2 other lucky people were able to see it here in LA not to long ago. lol
