Are kids that are still young enough to play on a swingset old enough to play Halo?

Poor kid, everyone knows being Arbiter comes in just above last for kickball.
I’ve got a 4 year old and a 7 year old. I admit we’re probably not the norm with the games we let the kids play but our basic rules are: #1. Combat is allowed as long as you’re not hurting people (humans) and #2 You HAVE to be the good guys, cause the good guys always win.
Growing up I think back on what WE pretended to be, cops/robbers/secret agents all with plenty of violence. What was worse as kids, we actually acted the stuff out shooting/dying…etc. With all that and the Tom and Jerry, Speedy and Roadrunner cartoons according to studies these days we should all be mass murderers.
Parents simply need to pay more attention to the games their kids are buying/playing, or worse…the games THEY are buying for their kids. Be involved with them or…I dunno…God forbid, PLAY the games with them. Parents…pay attention to the ESRB rating on the game (flawed as it may be), if you buy a M rated game for 10 year old Johnny, don’t sit there and complain about the content or actions of the game.

p.s. as for the state of our kids…the 7 year old is in the gifted and talented class, reading at a 5th or 6th grade level. And the 4 year old has a better understanding of computer UI and menu navigation than I’d wager most adults. Neither is very ‘aggressive’.

My god, when we were kids in the late 60’s, early 70’s we played army. The fight was over who had to be the Nazi’s this time. We would be accused of hate crimes in this day and age for that.
